HOT Events wins and delights at MEETINGS 2023

HOT Events was thrilled to showcase their services for the first time at MEETINGS 2023…..and also take home one of the event awards!

In June, HOT Events was thrilled to join their business events partners from Ōtautahi Christchurch in Wellington at the country’s only national tradeshow for the Business Events Industry – MEETINGS 2023.

Organised by the industry’s association - Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) allows the industry to connect, inspire and showcase suppliers to buyers from throughout New Zealand, Australia and this year BEIA welcomed back visitors from further afield including Singapore and the United States.

Business Director, Victoria Wales, has attended over 20 MEETINGS throughout the years, and was thrilled to be back with HOT Events attending as an exhibitor.  “Being on the stand was fantastic, it was wonderful to join “team Christchurch” on our regional stand; and show how well our region collaborates so passionately”.

Talking with Stu Freeman from Meeting Newz, Victoria said “There is so much new product in Christchurch that it really helps to have an expert on the ground who can pull it altogether.  It’s a city that has really got its mojo back”.

ChristchurchNZ pulled out all the stops at MEETINGS this year, from the chill lounge for buyers to relax under a canopy of stunning and sustainable floral arrangements created by Kim Chan Events; to coffee and massages sponsored by Christchurch Airport, and it didn’t stop just at the show.

On Wednesday evening, HOT Events was thrilled to be invited to join buyers and ChristchurchNZ at the Public Trust building for a spectacular dinner with all local ingredients and beverages from Canterbury, with a menu created by Dan Shanks from Venues Ōtautahi.  Kim Chan once again turned the venue into a spectacular space filled in the scents of flowers, which were donated after the event to the Mary Potter Hospice for their staff, families and residents to enjoy.   The group was inspired by Environmental Explorer, Tim Jarvis who famously re-enacted Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Antarctic journey from Elephant Island to South Georgia from 1916 in a replica of the 23-foot whaler.  Tim captivated the audience will tales of the trip, and what he learnt about leadership to make the journey a success.  What a privilege to not only hear from Tim, but to spend a wonderful evening with like-minded industry leaders – who all love what we do.

After two days of appointments – meeting and connecting; it was time to celebrate.  With a theme of Absolutely Fabulous – well there was some dress up involved with Victoria Wales as Pasty and ChristchurchNZ’s Meegan Ruff as her bestie Edwina.  As Pasty is not one to go hide in the corner, she did feel the need to head up on stage to collect the Meeting Newz award of Best New Exhibitor awarded to HOT Events and voted by buyers attending MEETINGS.  Victoria said “Winning this award is such a huge thrill, especially as we were on a regional stand and not our own.  I am delighted that a friend Kim Chan won the best individual stand as well – what a night for Christchurch!”
